Company Continues National Wireless Expansion with Movement into San Francisco
NEW YORK, 11/10/2004 -- TowerStream, the leading fixed wireless Internet provider and WiMAX Forum member, announced today the launch of its first Point-of-Presence (PoP) in its new network in Los Angeles. The company also announced it is continuing its nationwide expansion with the addition of the San Francisco metro-area to its network of cities, offering businesses the most reliable wireless high-speed Internet access via a wireless ring in the sky.
Expanding coverage in existing markets and establishing service in new urban areas is a major focus for TowerStream moving into 2005. The Aon Center is the first PoP in the company?s Los Angeles network, and will provide the first fixed wireless Internet access for businesses in that city. In addition, TowerStream remains committed to national expansion on both coasts and will soon be offering San Francisco businesses access to T1 and 100 Mbps Internet connections that are cheaper, faster and more reliable than services currently offered by the phone company?s wireline networks. Already, TowerStream delivers broadband service to over 750 businesses in New York, Boston, Chicago and Providence/Newport.
?Our presence atop the Aon Center provides unprecedented wireless redundancy to the Los Angeles-metro area and gives thousands of businesses access to high-speed Internet with enhanced features and a level of service unmatched by the local phone companies,? said Jeff Thompson, COO and Co-Founder of TowerStream. ?We are continuing to expand our service to cities like San Francisco with the goal of bringing faster and more reliable high-speed Internet access to business customers in the top ten markets in the U.S. We are excited to be able to deliver our services to a second West Coast market and offer our high standard of customer service and satisfaction to more clients in the largest cities in the country. ?
With TowerStream?s Rapid Installation Program, businesses are guaranteed to have Internet access within 48 hours. The fixed wireless broadband network has no infrastructure tied to the phone company, and supports VoIP, VPNs, bundled data, video services, bandwidth on demand and wireless redundancy. Only TowerStream offers the ability to prioritize mission critical applications such as VoIP and to date has serviced over one million VoIP calls over its network, demonstrating that VoIP and wireless services can combine to offer businesses a true alternative to the phone company.
TowerStream was the first service provider to join the WiMAX Forum, and its current technology already includes several of the features that will be included in the first 802.16 shipments. Additionally, TowerStream will be one of the first service providers to offer WiMAX-certified solutions to its customers on a national level.
