$10,000 Awarded to Five Students for Academic and Entrepreneurial Excellence
ANN ARBOR, Mich., 09/26/2003 -- The Samuel Zell & Robert H. Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies, the world's leading university-based center for entrepreneurial studies, announced today the five recipients of the Mitchell A. Mondry Scholarship awardâ€"Scott Lutz, Laura Whitridge, Alfonso Chang, Atisa Sioshansi and Matthew Tucker. The award offers each second-year MBA or BBA student a one-time sum of $2,000 toward their tuition. These students have proven themselves both in the classroom and in entrepreneurship, with all recipients maintaining meritorious G.P.A.'s while succeeding in a previous or ongoing entrepreneurial activity.
"The Zell Lurie Institute is a phenomenal institution that has changed the lives of so many entrepreneurs," said Mitchell Mondry, the scholarship's sponsor. "In this down economy it's important to help foster the success of the next generation of entrepreneurs to create more businesses."

Scott Lutz (BBA '04) is a founder of Siberian Taiga, a wood products company based in Novosibrsk, Russia. As a student leader, Laura Whitridge (MBA '04) hosted the Venture Capital Investment Competition Central Region, and is currently interim COO of a firm she worked with through an internship. Alfonso Chang (MBA '04) is co-founder and president of AC3 Group, a consultancy based in Dunedin, Florida. Atisa Sioshansi (MBA '04) is currently a team leader on the Wolverine Venture Fund, and Matthew Tucker (MBA '04) is co-founder of Wolverine Real Estate Investments.
Mitchell Mondry co-founded M Group, a venture-capital investment company located in Birmingham, Michigan, and currently holds the position of vice president. Previously, Mr. Mondry was the vice president of stores and customer service for Highland Superstores. He hosts The Digital Hour, a monthly radio show series focusing on financing businesses, and has served as a judge for Zell Lurie's annual Pryor-Hale business plan competition.
