BOSTON, 07/24/2004 -- Dotomi, an online customer retention leader in one-to-one messaging between marketers and consumers, announced today the appointment of Jim Alla as Senior Vice President of Sales and Laurence Stock as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. This announcement comes as the Company continues to expand its U.S. customer base for Dotomi Direct Messaging (TM), which empowers consumers who opt-in to their choice of marketers to receive personal, relevant and timely communications that are delivered non-intrusively through ad banners.
"We are extremely pleased that Laurence and Jim are joining our management team," said John Federman, President and CEO of Dotomi. "With Laurence's proven leadership in finance and operations management, and Jim's extensive sales background in the online marketing, media and publishing industries, they will be instrumental in building Dotomi's U.S. presence and establishing Dotomi Direct Messaging as the industry's foremost online customer retention solution."
Jim Alla has worked closely with John Federman in prior roles, and brings over 20 years of sales and business development experience to the Company. Most recently, Jim served as Senior Vice President of Technology Sales for 24/7 Real Media, where he led the technology sales and account management teams. Prior to that, as Executive Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Newmediary, an ASP providing white papers and online directories to publishers, he was instrumental in building a strong sales force, signing 50 partnerships with publications such as BusinessWeek and The Economist. Jim's online marketing and publishing experience also includes leadership roles at Engage, AdKnowledge, IDG Communications, and Ziff-Davis Publishing.
"I am very excited to be joining the Dotomi team and working with marketers to develop effective online customer retention campaigns," said Jim Alla. "With Dotomi Direct Messaging campaigns generating an average of 7-12 percent click-through rates due to highly targeted, permission-based communication, everyone wins - consumers control their experience, marketers succeed in building strong online communities while lowering their cost of sale, and publishers maximize the value of their inventory."
Laurence Stock has 15 years of experience starting, financing and building growth-oriented companies, and comes to Dotomi after serving as COO for IMN, Inc., an e-marketing service provider. Laurence also served as CFO of The Reference, Inc., a consulting firm that provided custom analytics and trading solutions to investment managers, where he successfully negotiated and closed a $3 million angel financing and the acquisition of the company by a leading offshore outsourcing provider. As CFO of Benchmarking Partners, Inc., a research-based strategy consulting firm, Laurence negotiated and closed a significant venture capital infusion, secured funding for a software company spin-off and closed a strategic investment from Cisco Systems.
"With a skilled executive team and breakthrough online customer retention solution, Dotomi is perfectly positioned for market growth benefiting direct, e-mail and online marketers," said Laurence Stock. "The online advertising industry is shifting as consumers increasingly demand more personal, relevant and timely marketer communications. Dotomi Direct Messaging, by letting Consumers Rule!TM, provides marketers with a valuable method to keep their customers informed, while respecting their privacy."
